Week 3:  4/6 - 4/10  Distance Learning Assignments

 

Please work on these lessons daily to keep up with your schoolwork.  .  There are some assignments that I will need for you to send to me . You may write out the assignments on paper and take a picture of them, type your answers on a word document,  or copy the assignments from your student portal.  Whichever way is easier for you is fine.     Please  email them to me at:  nraffa@dadeschools.net.  Make sure you write your name, date and the  assignment on your work before you send it.  Thank you.

Remember you will need to access your reading books online through your portal as I showed you in class.  (Click on the red book, select your class, click on “resources”.  You will use 4 books from those resources:  the Reading Writing Workshop  Book, the Literature Anthology book,  the Your Turn Practice workbook, and the Grammar Practice workbook)

Also remember to work on your other assignments from Ms. Ojito, Ms. Miyar, Mr. Anuez/Nunez,  Ms. Placeres, and Mr. Garrastazu.

Spelling Words: (new)

grocery, professor, barbershop, grammar,  tractor, composer, ranger,  waiter, victory, cling, dissolves, gritty, humid, magnify, microscope, mingle, typical, cleaner, dollar, peppery

Vocabulary Words: (same as last week)

cling, dissolves, gritty, humid, magnify, microscope, mingle, typical

1.  cling - to stick closely

2.  dissolves - to pass into a solution with a liquid

3.  gritty - containing very small bits of sand or stone

4.  humid - moist or full of water vapor

5.  magnify - to make something look bigger than it really is

6.  microscope - a device for looking at things that are too small to be seen with the naked eye

7.  mingle - to mix or come together

8.  typical - to show qualities or characteristics of a certain type

The assignments for this week that need to be sent to me are indicated below. Please send these assignments to me (nraffa@dadeschools.net) by noon on  Friday (4/10/2020).  There are 3 assignments listed for this week:

 

1.     Grammar workbook pages 116 – 117. (comparing with “more” and “most”).

2.     I-ready Lesson 14, page 223 only (graphic organizer and paragraph).

3.     Story using your vocabulary words. 

 

Activities that you should work on daily are as follows:

 

*  Independent reading.  You may go to Myon, Tumblebooks (the username and password is “miami-dade”), Time For Kids.com, or a book at home.   Find a story/article  of interest on your level and read for 15 – 20 minutes.

*  Work on your i-ready – YOU ONLY NEED TO DO 60 MINUTES PER WEEK 😊 I will check your progress each Monday. 

*  Remember to take a break, have a snack, watch a good tv show…….

 

Monday, April 6, 2020: 

*  Review your spelling and vocabulary words

*  Write 10 good statements using your spelling words, try to use 2 spelling words in each statement.

Complete pages 116-117 from your Grammar Practice Workbook. PLEASE EMAIL THIS ASSIGNMENT TO ME.

*  Work on independent reading/i-ready.

*  Review your spelling and vocabulary words.

*  I will post an  I-ready Lesson packet on “remind”.  This week I will be sending home Lesson 14 “Text-Structures: Part 1, Cause and Effect, Compare and Contrast”.  I'm going to try this to see how it will work out, and I will adjust if it doesn't work too well for everyone. 

*  Please Read pages 216-221 onlyComplete page 223(graphic organizer and a short paragraph).  PLEASE EMAIL THIS ASSIGNMENT TO ME.

*  Work on independent reading/i-ready.
